Aims

In partnership with the providers of primary dental care, the aim of the Scottish Dental Practice Based Research Network (SDPBRN) is to encourage, facilitate, and conduct high quality research in the primary care setting, and to disseminate information relevant to the provision of evidence-based primary dental care. A register of current research and research ideas is maintained, along with current contact details of members. Our membership includes representatives of:

  • Scottish Public Dental Service
  • Masters Degree Programme
  • Research Networks
  • General Dental Service
  • Hospital Dental Service
  • VT/GPT trainers/trainees

SDPBRN seeks to engage with the dental community in promoting a flourishing research-oriented network in Scotland and holds a number of events to facilitate this.

SDPBRN was established in 1998 by the former Scottish Council for Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education (SCPMDE) and Professor NB Pitts, former director of the Dental Health Services Research Unit (DHSRU).  All activities are overseen by the SDPBRN Steering Group.
