Interested in becoming a Rapid Evaluation Practitioner (REP)?

March 24, 2015

Want to learn more about the Rapid Evaluation Practitioner programme or sign up to be a REP?

Becoming a REP with Scottish Dental Practice Based Research Network (SDPBRN) will provide you with the chance to use your expertise to inform important aspects of practice and policy. As you know practitioner input is vital to ensuring that research and policy decisions support and improve practice.

As a REP, you will be part of a core team of GDPs who will be the first practitioners offered the opportunity to participate in SDPBRN research and policy related projects. Most of the time, this will involve a survey or perhaps a brief telephone interview to ask about your practice, experiences, or opinions on a given topic. Surveys and interviews will normally take less than 30 minutes.

We do ask for a voluntary commitment of no more than four hours over the course of 12 months, spread out across the year. Occasionally, we may ask you to consider participating in a larger project such as a pilot study that may take more of your time. For larger projects, reimbursement for the time involved may be available. We do several pilot studies a year, usually involving about ten practices each, giving REPs a range of opportunities to take part in more in-depth projects.

We are committed to developing our REP programme as a way to better connect practice, policy, and research for dentistry in Scotland.
